I have always had a passion for color. Even as a child, I was always experimenting with my crayons and finger paints. My parents designated a place on the refrigerator for all of my art work. Soon, they had to get a small bulletin board in the kitchen for my prolific pictures.
My love for color extended to my room decorations and the clothes I wore. I was never happy in plain colors. I wanted the brightest colors with the flashiest patterns. It is a good thing that I was growing up in the ‘80s. That decade had some of my favorite styles. Many of my clothes were patterned after the music stars of that time.
I also had a lot of fun with makeup. I can remember sitting at my mother’s vanity and trying on her makeup. When I was old enough to have my own collection of makeup, I experimented with color. It was so much fun creating my own looks with different products!
I thought out of the box when it came to color. I did not think that lipstick, blush, or eyeshadow had to strictly be used as directed. It was not uncommon for me to use a favorite shade of lipstick for eyeshadow or blush. I have also used my eye shadow as blush. If I loved the color, then nothing was off limits. I even blended different colors to make unique hues.
Now that I am an adult, I still love wild colors. That is why I am so excited about Lime Crime. Doe Deere, founder of the online makeup brand, is a kindred spirit. When I did a little research about her, I found that she had always been in love with color. Like me, she did a lot of artwork as a child and adored mixing fashion and makeup.
Deere moved to New York City from Russia. She had a successful clothing line in her eBay store that she called Lime Crime. She modeled her own clothing and blended her own makeup. Her makeup was in such demand that she started working exclusively in makeup. Today, Lime Crime is a multi-million dollar online company.
Customers can choose from luscious colors of lipstick, eye shadow, blush, and nail polish. They can order online, and it will be delivered right to their door. I am a big fan of Lime Crime and am eager to see what new colors Doe Deere will be blending next. They seem to announce on Tumblr, whenever new colors come out. I’ll definitely be waiting.
