Luiz Carlos Trabuco Cappi Looks to Restore Bradesco Bank’s Dominance

At the age of 18, Luiz Carlos Trabuco Cappi joined Bradesco Bank, where he initially worked as a clerk. This occurred almost immediately after he graduated from Sao Paulo University’s Faculty of Philosophy, Science, and Letters. Over the course of his career, Luiz Carlos Trabuco Cappi exhibited a virtually unmatched dedication to his service at Bradesco Bank, and quickly rose through the ranks, attaining a number of high-ranking executive positions. During his time at Bradesco Seguros, the insurance branch of the company, Luiz Carlos Trabuco Cappi held the position of Executive Vice President for a period of four years, before ascending to the position of President of Bradesco Seguros. While Brazil faced uncertainty regarding its political infrastructure and economic trajectory, Luiz Carlos Trabuco Cappi continued to flourish in his role as an executive for Bradesco Seguros, putting his leadership and analytical acumen on full display. It was during this time, that Mr. Cappi made significant strides in growing the company, doubling its size, while also transforming it into one of the primary money earners throughout the whole of the company. In 2003, as well as 2007, Mr. Cappi was recognized as the Insurance Personality of the Year, which only added to his reputation as one of the most valuable executives in all of Brazil.

For a large part of its history, Bradesco Bank has been the dominant banking institution in Brazil, but, as of late, Itau Unibanco has risen to the forefront, making it Bradesco Bank’s number one competitor. With Bradesco Bank losing its hold on the banking industry in Brazil, the company decided that it needed to go in a new direction, and the appointment of Carlos Luiz Trabuco Cappi, who had over four decades of direct experience with the bank, was chosen as the new leader in 2009. Because Mr. Cappi had a wealth of knowledge and experience in a number of sectors throughout the company, his credentials were such that, very few could match, and his career directly fell in line with Bradesco Bank’s motto regarding “continuity and renewal.”
